Childhood and playgrounds
Last weekend I was free and jobless. Thought of going on a bike ride and took out my bike from the garage. Since I had not used it in a while it was not starting. Some how managed to start it and went out and stopped near a children park. There were lot of kids playing and I could not resist myself from entering the park. Chose a bench and sat seeing them play.
There was a cute little kid in pink dress playing the Swing. She was all alone. She was happy in her own world. She reminded me of my childhood. I have grown up playing alone in my early childhood. I am not complaining about the lonely childhood because that was fun too. I felt that the little girl is happy and very friendly. My perception soon changed when one more cute girl in a light green skirt started playing near that swing. She was holding a polythene cover and she was filling mud in to it. Suddenly the pink dress girl stopped her swing and started throwing small stones at the girl filling mud. girl ran from there and complained to her elder sister who was playing little away from them. The elder sister consoled her and asked her to play somewhere else. The pink dress girl dint stop there, she went behind the girl and again started troubling her. I could not make out what was bothering that girl. I fell in to my own thoughts. Do we all behave this kiddish at times?
Just remember any instance when you had just acted on something because of your ego. You will find a lot of those. Its because how grown up we may be, but there is a child inside us struggling to come out. Now it depends on us whether we use it constructively or destructively.
When I came out of my thoughts I saw three boys playing Kalla Police/ Chor Sipayi. They were running all around the park. Small kid of the lot was not able to catch the other two. So the elder kid got himself out and helped him. The small kid was happy after getting the elder one out. The maturity showed by the elder kid amused me, because he may be the elder of the group but was still a kid.Loosing knowingly is not a common trait among kids.
Compare the same characteristics with the grown ups. You will surely find few people who put themselves at loss to keep smile on some ones face, May be these people are those kids who got themselves out for the happiness of the other kid. In childhood they did this without knowing what it means but once they grow up they will still have that quality which they learnt as a child. May be their parents have taught them to be empathetic. I think every kid need to learn a little of Empathy if we want to build a "TOLERANT NATION" .Instead of giving big lectures on tolerance, wont it be good if we teach it to our kids? who are going to be the citizens of this country in future.
