Now also these things are discussed but there are few additions to it, such as "@***insurance your service is pathetic " or similar post on fb page etc. And the followers of these people start liking and commenting… and the negative word of mouth spreads and prospective customers are kept away from brand!!!!
The other side of the story is that if there is a good word in social media and that gets viral then its going to be a free publicity for the brand and which is worth more than print or television advertisement. So as to keep up with the trends the corporate has to move towards social media and it is inevitable for companies if they are looking to keep their feet grounded in the storm.
Today's business has become so much customer centric that, even a single unhappy customer is treated as a big flaw in the servicing division. According to me most of these values are adopted after the new advancements in e-commerce. Providing a reliable service with a convenient environment is the mantra of today's service segment. In scenarios like this it is quite essentials to keep track of their brand image on social media and measure the indirect impact of negative feedbacks on the turnover. This new thought gave rise to a new service segment altogether i.e social media monitoring and consulting. It has become a non separable part of market research reports in today's world.
